Hello there! My name is Brian Donnelly, and welcome to Orbis, an award-winning service. I provide personalized support and guidance to help create nurturing environments for children and young people to thrive. Using a values-based approach to relationships and behaviour, I aim to build confidence, knowledge, and skills in adults and young individuals.

I don’t offer fixed packages; instead, I work in partnership to meet your specific needs. Each partner receives a service tailored to their current needs and priorities. This can range from training, 1-2-1 support and coaching for staff, pupils, or families, to policy development and implementation or consultation. This illustrates the work from a strategic level to the individual; some partners take all levels of this work and some will choose what they need.

 

I work with schools, local authorities, and organisations to establish a consistent and well-informed approach to relationships and behaviour. Drawing from my experience leading and developing services in Scotland, I offer diverse services. I am well-known for my anti-bullying work  in Scotland and across the UK, having served as the strategic lead for Scotland for 10 years as Director of respectme from 2007 to 2017.

My expertise lies in all things behaviour and relationships, from understanding and responding to distress, trauma, all the way to anti-bullying. My background in residential child care underpins my approach to relationships and behaviour.

I have been involved at a service, policy, and strategic level in relation to Children and Young People’s Mental Health since 1991. My work is shaped by a solid working knowledge of Equality and Diversity and how it impacts practice and policy at local and national levels.

I have assisted numerous schools in consulting and engaging with stakeholders to develop new policies that reflect the views and experiences of the school community. I deliver workshops to pupils, engage with and assist parents, grandparents, and carers, and offer popular CPD sessions to staff.

I support local authorities and organisations in policy development, engage with parents and communities on various issues, and provide analysis and recommendations to local authorities.

I led on innovative work with an Elite Level  Football Club Academy. I helped coaches to redefine their role as practitioners working with children, and also developed new training to support this. I led on the work to develop and implement a 5-year wellbeing strategy and the operational plan to implement this and support safeguarding. 

I have developed and designed training and policy on workplace bullying and have supported individuals and advised organizations where this has been an issue or an allegation.
